When choosing a GPU to mine Ethereum, there are a number of parameters that make some models better options than other models. The better a graphics card for gaming doesn’t make it better for mining because they take into account a significant set of factors that change with each configuration.
Most of the information on the network does not take into account certain elements to provide your information, as it is assumed that we will provide correct information on the one hand and does not account for the cost of the information on the other. energy in different parts of the world. So we made a small “comparison” where we standardized the information with the situation in Spain where the energy cost is different from that of the United States.
Power supply and energy cost
The first point to consider is the power supply we use in our computer, so getting an 80 Plus Titanium certified power supply is essential. This is because a GeForce RTX 80 consuming 400 W when using a 3090% efficient power supply is not the same as when using a 356 Plus Titanium where the efficiency is 80%, the consumption is 90 W.
Given that most of the people have 80% efficient resources, we decided to normalize the energy consumption of each graphics card in the chart to that efficiency of the power supply so you will see it in the tables you will see later. energy consumption with such a power supply.
The second point is the energy cost, since we take into account that the GPU is mining all day without stopping, we converted the energy consumption to KW / day. In Spain, the average price per kW is 0.1233 € at the rates we have in Spain. For this reason, we first calculated the kW amount in a single day for each graphics card in the comparison.

We obtained the information in the table on MH / s from what mine as we obtained the rest of the information we explained in the previous section.
As can be clearly seen when we examine the current table, the RTX 3090 is the graphics card that provides the most benefit with an average of 11.03 € at the time of writing, while the GTX 1050 is located at the end of the table. You are in the place where we get almost one euro a day.
On the other hand, it does not suggest that low-cost graphics cards such as GTX 1030, GTX 1010 and its counterparts do not perform well enough to mine Ethereum. So if you have a graphics card of this power or similar, we do not recommend doing this as it will be an absolute waste of time.

The source of information for AMD graphics cards is the same as that of NVIDIA, so we applied the same general rules.
The best performing AMD graphics card is the AMD Radeon VII, which has been on sale for a very short time and is difficult to find. Its efficiency is partly due to the use of an HBM1 bus of close to 2 TB / s. Generally, AMD GPUs tend to have higher consumption than NVIDIAs and therefore will be slightly worse under the same mining power.
The limit of the table is the RX 570, which is a graphics card that we cannot get an average of one euro a day, so its profitability is extremely low. Up to the point where we do not recommend mining with this graphics card. We also do not recommend mining with GPUs built into AMD SoCs, as these are much less powerful and the money you get will not justify the energy costs.
The cost factor of the graphics card
Our recommendation is if you are going to sacrifice your graphics card if you are playing great games or useful for your daily work then: Not mine! We don’t know how long it will take to see the stock of graphics cards on the market, and there’s nothing more frustrating than seeing how you can’t play your favorite game due to your graphics card getting weaker.
Who do we recommend? People who don’t use it and have a graphics card powerful enough to profit. There is also the possibility to buy second-hand on eBay and similar places. In such cases, you should be very careful when purchasing the graphics card, you may need to reduce the performance of the graphics for reasons beyond your control.
Therefore, before purchasing a second-hand graphics card, you must make sure that you will cover the cost of the investment and with a large enough margin. For example, it does not make sense to spend 2000 Euros between all expenses so that you will only earn 50 Euros after paying all expenses in the end.
